I'm going to be putting up fliers in my town. If anyone else wants to do the same in their town, feel free.

Any suggestions for what mine ought to say? So far I've got:

Quote:
ARE YOU A WRITER?

Do you write songs, poems, plays, letters, journals, short stories or novels?

Have you been looking for a good forum to discuss writing, reading and publishing?

We have many boards, such as Supernatural, Essays and Letters that many other writing boards fail to provide space for.

Fun, friendly and totally new, Writer's World is sure to be your ideal destination for all things literary. Locally run and moderated.

I feel like I'm missing something. Suggestions?

Maybe make it so readers feel like they can help shape the site and that everyones work is welcome.

You could also hand out fliers with cookies, that always helps.

That's how I'm hoping that the site will be. This particular part of the forum is intended for just that. If someone has a suggestion for a new forum, this is the place to suggest it. Actually, you reminded me that I ought to add a place for Fan Fic.

I like the cookie idea. I'm thinking about leaving a few fliers at a couple of the coffee shops. Writers like coffee shops as far as I know.

Say, Cal.. have you read "Howl's Moving Castle"?

That is where I got the name, though I liked the movie better.

I have been involved in a lot of forums over the years, and it is important to make your users feel involved if you want the thing to stay alive.

I loved the book, but I was a little iffy about the movie.. it was good, but I was hoping for something a little more like the book. I waited for about a decade for that one to be put to film.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cal. Now I have:

Better. How about this?:

Quote:
Are You a Writer?
Want to Start?

Then you need to check out Writer's World, a new forum for anyone interested in writing anything, from emotional poetry to fan-fiction to didactic hexameter.

Locally owned and operated, Writer's World is a place where you can bounce ideas off other writer's and trade advice.

Best of all, Writer's World is young, and you will help shape it into something we can all be proud of.
So come over to writersworld.freeforums.org and see for yourself!

Mine needs work, too, but I just wanted to show a different approach.

It's the nickname for my town. If you're putting up fliers and you're from somewhere else, maybe you should drop the "locally run" part on yours.

I'm thinking that I'll make fliers out of the best of the suggestions I get, to make things interesting.

Ah, sweet. I don't know if you actually want to paper your town, too, or not.. but thanks for the suggestion either way.

I could, but in this weather, they wouldn't last long. Plus, since I live in a college town, there are a lot of literary clubs already.

Cool. Well, if you want to later, feel free. Any exposure is good exposure.

Lambert, we should team up and spread fliers together, I haven't seen you as of late.

Also don't write fanfiction on the flier, that is asking for trouble not to mention is can be seen as something to discredit our writer "cred".

I can't think of much but I can seen exactly what I wrote when I promoted the site with some of the people I know. Then post again.

Well.. don't you think that we ought to be promoting fanfic all the same? It IS a kind of writing. We want to seem serious, yet open to everything. After all, we're trying to be a little more diverse than the usual places.
