Speaking of poems, I wrote like 9 last week. I emailed a copy out to a few of you. Pretty much no one sent feedback :S

What are you grounded for this time?

Hey so i just wanted to know if you guys can give me any tips on beggining a story, becasue i never can i get my insperation and i can write certain bits and pieces,but i just don't know how to start it off,it always seems that i can only start from the middle of a story.

So just wanting to know if you can help me out there?

Steve, we know you are Steve. At least I do, and I'm on here enough to count as everybody.

My advice, start with the middle and write outwards. Starting can be difficult, and freaking out about it will kill any motivation.

If I do that, I find that I have no way to start a story. I have a similar problem, only mine is that I never make up enough middle plot to stretch from beginning to end. An example of a project getting screwed up over this sort of thing would be Flesh.

As for Flesh.. I'm torn between forcing myself to work on it (at the cost of quality), and leaving it the hell alone until my writery mojo decides to pick up again.

Tramp, do you ever have periods of time when you feel like writing is the absolute last thing you feel like doing? I've been bothering every writer I know about this (actually, I have an unsent letter written to David, begging him to tell me if he's ever had a writer's block quite like this, and if so, what he did about it to get over it), in the hopes that someone will just tell me, "Relax, every writer gets this at least once. It will be over soon, and one day, you'll just find that your passion for writing will magically reappear, revitalized and as poignant as ever." That's what I really want to hear; I don't want to know that this is really the end of writing for me. I want someone to tell me that there's still hope for me.

At this point, all I have really been working on is journal entries. They're usually short ones, but it just strikes me as odd; even when I'm not writing stories, I'm still writing SOMETHING.. even if it is something short and mildly personal. There was a point where I wasn't even writing those.. but now that I am, I'm sort of just waiting around for my interest in working on stories to crop back up. I mean, I'm still writing these little plot sheets for new stuff, but I can't seem to be bothered to work on developing a story beyond that stage. Just before this little collapse in effort came about, I was actually working on a short story alongside Flesh. The plan was to alternate between projects to infuse enthusiasm back in to my work. Don't ask. I don't know how that was supposed to work. It seemed to be effective for the first two times that I did it, but after that it became a drudgery to know that I had yet another unfinished project on my hands to tend to. I think that may have been what led me to drop everything altogether. I could be wrong though.

Anyway, you get the idea.

I didn't write for three years once.

It happens.

All writing is personal. All of it is a "art-baby" so to speak. You put something of yourself into what you write and create.

Hm. Well, in this case, none of me is being projected anywhere. I've written like two letters and 12 journal entries since June 27th (the day I stopped working on Flesh).

I'm hoping so. I'm still making up stuff, I'm just not working on anything beyond conception. Like, this morning, I wrote part of my dream out as a story plot. I'm calling it The 7:52 Express to Hell. It's about a demon and his pet human child. I had to make up a few things because the dream lost all threads of coherency towards the end.

Keep trying. If gets horrid, write crap. Bad ideas can be written too, then burned.

The quality is not what's suffering here: quantity. I produce so little that I've given up altogether for now.

I think you should still try to get some work out there. BUt if you realy can't a break might be in order.
